Hi folks, and Merry Christmas! I'm looking at buying an accelerometer, perhaps a Beltronics FX-1. Does anyone have experience using one of these gadgets? Seems like a handy way to convert "seat of the pants" feel of performance enhancements into real numbers. -Mac |

I've been using a G-tech Pro now for a couple of years, they are fairly accurate within .1 sec in the 1/4...if you weigh the car properly, calibrate it on a level surface, and use a level road where the cops don't play too much... I use this device to put the "numbers" to modifications to the beater valiant and the Hpak duster (and can see the results in "minutes"). A $200 unit can be a better investment in certain scenarios than say 8 hours at a dyno facility. -D.idiot "Son, that sure don't look like no Radar Detector I ever seen!" |

hm so those gtech pros do work, cool, do you have to hit a button to start a qt mile timer or something, i remember seeing a comercial with a duster on it, and i figured it wouldnt work on a old car not near as many sensors. what else can it tell u |

I believe the G-tech and FX-2,1 work the same. My FX-2 can measure HP if the weight and CDA are entered. Out of the box it measures G-forces and ET for a bunch of distances like 60 ft 1/8 and 1/4 mile at least. Just calibrate and hit the gas and it starts on its own. |

The G-Tech pro, stores al my "runs" and I can download them to a program on my computer and look over/compare the runs: they give time and distance through out a 1/4 mile run...it will give a comparison of your torque and HP curve over an RPM range, it also will show you the rpm graph of your run so you can see the "spikes" where your shift patten is, you can also get a nice readout of your ET and final MPH (so you can estimate a better dial in without going to the track for some test runs first...unless the cops catch you....) ![]() -D.Idiot |
