http://www.moparts.com/Tech/Archive/axle/8.html

There's a table that says 5-10 degrees nose-down, 5-7 degrees preferred for standard leaf springs.
Is that right or wrong? :?

I think a large factor is the horsepower you have in front. The more horeses, the more downward pinion angle. Also your suspension comes into play. The more rigid the suspension, the less axle wrap you get. The less axle wrap, the less nose down pinion angle. That angle may vary from car to car and v-8 to /6.

I'm only concerned with a stock 225 slant.
120 horses? 110?

This article appears to have come from a book, and I was hoping the numbers are for a stock daily driver. I also just like the article because I can understand it (I think).

What should the angle at the rear U-joint be for a 225 automatic? 5-7 degrees?

I would say less than that. If you do a search using "pinion angle" you will see where I asked the same thing. The response was 2-3 degrees down for a daily driver, 5*-plus for cars that take off hard. I had my perches welded on to give me 4*down, I havent driven it yet. That tech article in moparts also shows how to measure for the correct angle, I believe.

Thanks. I have been confused by different terminology.

If the rearend is pointing 1 degree down and the driveshaft is 1.75 degrees up, that gives me 2.75 degrees, correct?

Image

1 degree down + 1 3/4 degrees up = 2.75 degrees at U-joint

And that also is called 2.75 degrees pinion angle.

I dont think so, but here is where I may misunderstand how to correctly measure the angle. I will stay away from this ? , dont know for sure.
