Post subject: | Help with ´71 Duster |
Since a week I got this problem with my good Duster, starts fine at first try (even with 2 celsius degrees), idles excellent, but when it comes to move the car, it moves rought, even tries to die, but everything goes smooth when reaching second gear. This does not happen often, but happens. Also, this problem always happen when starting the car after some time it ran. I already expulsed a little garbage from the cab by accelerating it and choking the carb, my mechanic and said that the problem is not the carb (even try my carb in another car, and it ran very fine), but he was´t avaible to check the car, what can the problem be? |

If your Duster still has points, I'd check there first. Mike |

If you're sure it isn't the carb, the next place to look is the ignition system. Do you have a carbon tracer running down the inside of the distributor cap? How bout a coil wire touching something and shorting out briefly? I'm afraid it's just time to do the horrid diagnostic routine! Just go over the individual components and verify that they work properly. Mike |
