Hey all, Has anyone moved the sway bar mounts for the addco front sway bar, more towards the middle of the k frame...I installed the bar right by the strut bar bushings/washers, and it drives great, yet the sway bar mounts angle inward...along with the shape of the k frame.. I want the bushing to have equal stress on both sides! |

I have an Adcco bar for out 71 but have not installed it yet. I do not like the bracket setup it came with either and have a pretty good idea about what I am going to fabricate. I would not consider moving the mounting points for the bar inward however. They really should be as far apart as possible for the bar to be effective at the rate it is designed for. The chassis will flex less too as there will be less stress on it and the sway mounts. I have torn normal sway bar frame brackets in two on other cars and it would not be hard to do if the bracket is moved in too far from the outside bend of the sway bar. When the straight section of the bar starts flexing it will try to slide back and forth too and there will be nothing to stop it. |

I have an Addco bar on my 63 Dart and it is installed like the one in your picture and after 6000 miles of daily driving it is still working fine. HyperValiant |

I would weigh the amount of work you want to put into it against how hard it will really be used. If you drive fairly normal and just like to have good control and stability the brackets are probably fine, even if you move them in some. If you are going to really push it with sticky tires and a complete suspension set up I would try to improve the addco brackets some. At least get them lined up and weld the pieces together, but not the bracket that holds the bushing. Their setup is not the best, but I would not call it bad. |
