I would ask about the size of the bearing retainer hole, if it's a 5.125" it's not that rare.... also a pic of the other side would help date the bell as the truck ones have a ball stud and the car versions use a plate with a hole stamped in it. -D.Idiot |

Visually, it looks identical to my 5.125 BR bellhousing. Fork pivot bolts are spread pretty far apart, which happened when they went to the big bearing retainer. The fork looks like it's the early non ball stud style bell. Definitely not that rare. I think $80 is way out of line, $45 with the fork might be more reasonable. Check out carpart.com, I remember seeing some for $35 or less, but that might not be with the fork. |

Not rare - I have 3 of those. It will Mout the 833 and the 230 3 Speed with the Proper 5.XXXX Baering retainer. You can find those on ebay cheaper than 45 every week. Die cast aluminum constuction - with 3 Tranny Mouting Patterns on it. Even though it might Be a truck piece it will work in a car you could drill and tap the bosses for the clutch piviot, but I would get one that is complete and right for your application. Again Weekly on ebay. Greg |

Best I can tell, it's not a ball pivot type housing. The bolt holes for the early plate style pivot are there (all though, they could be undrilled as was pointed out earlier), and I would think a hole for the ball pivot would show on the trans side, which it doesn't. Also, I would think the fork would have a divot for the ball, rather than a "ditch" for the plate style. Just my observations. Would it matter if it was a ball pivot, though? Seems like the ball would give you the option to set you pivot height easily. Just a thought. BTW, the ball (or plate) pivot is on the inside of the bell housing, on opposite face of the bell where the trans bolt on. It's what the clutch fork pivots on when you release the clutch. If you look at the picture, there is an extra bolt hole very close to the large hole in the middle. That is the bottom bolt hole for the pivot plate. |
