Ordered one of these today from Mancini Racing on clearance for $5. Didn't think that was too bad figuring they retail for $30. Heres the link if anybody wanted to know. http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/sixcyen.html

Yup, great deal! We bought one off of ebay for $20 and thought we got a great deal. :o We used it as our bible for our recent slant rebuild and the results are what we believe to be a "right" and well built slant. :D

I ordered the 07 Restoration catalog from Mancini a month ago. A great deal, only $5.00. I printed the reciept off the web site after checking out and added it to my invoices for tax time. Then it arrived a few days later with an invoice for $5.00 plus $5.95 S&H !!! I was pissed.
My point is, great buy on the book (scan it so we can all print it out  ) but keep an eye out for the final price when you balance your account.

I just ordered a copy also. Thanks for the heads up!

I don't plan on building a "performance" /6, but I figure the info is good to have regardless of application.

Five dollars is a good price, but I wouldn't spend much more. I have several "engine" manuals from different years. The newer ones do not have as much info, on the slant, as the earlier ones. They do make for good reading, but they are not "the bible". Everything in them, for the slant, is mostley outdated. There are misprints, and some stuff is just plain wrong. There is info printed, where someone just took a paragraph from a V-8 section, and put it into the slant section, mistakenly thinking it applied. If you get one cheap enough, read it then ask questions on this site.

That was a good buy. Matt Hensley at Hensley racing ent gave every Slant racer this manual two years ago. He suports MOPAR Events and i use ths Company. But as Charlie says if your not sure about something ask that question here you can get real life input and something that might work or be better. Thanks Ron Parker :D

There are a lot of errors in that book. Incorrect facts, questionable advice, and suggestions to use parts that never existed in ways that don't make sense. It's certainly worth reading, and there's some good info in there, but it's definitely no bible. Remember, it was written primarily to spur sales of Direct Connection (then Mopar Performance) parts, most all of which have been N/A for years!

Also, some of the information is actually meant for NHRA "stock" specifications and is not the way slants actually left the factory, but instead is how you can set them up for certain NHRA classes and have it not technically be out of spec. Their cylinder head cc values are a prime example.

Curiously, the Mopar Performance Chassis Manual actually has more examples of recommended part combos for the slant six. It's not certain how many of these actually work as described.

The six cylinder manual does include some drawings I haven't seen in the FSM, and that alone makes it a useful book to have. However, I suspect that some of the forum members here could singlehandedly write a better guide to slant six performance.
