Picked up my 2X1 intake today. Spent 3 hours polishing it, then did the old "aluminum paint & rag" trick. Beautiful. Then I took some Med. blue hobby paint and repainted the "O"s and "Offenhauser". The Offy 2X1 has to be the coolest looking intake I've owned yet! I thought my factory dual-quad Poly intake was nice; This lightweight beauty takes it!
I'll look in the archives, but does anyone have some advice for hooking up the 1920's on this intake? I'm afraid it's supposed to have the Rochester carbs. :( BUT...I know I can make my Holleys work.
Thanks for any help,
BBBanjo

Just out of curiosity, which Leakchester did they recommend?

Erm...no, the Offy 2x1 is not supposed to have Rochesters! (where'd this idea come from? :?: :?:  )

Carter BBS or Holley 1920 carbs will work just fine. See this post.

You got it, Dan! Carter BBS......I guess that's what I get for staying up too late. I noticed my error this morning, but you beat me to the correction. Sorry for the mistake.

I see there are more ways than one to get two barrels on our slants. Let's see some pics of the polish job you did. My little trip to the junk yard paid off for DodgeGirl. I picked her up a super six intake, carb, linkage and breather while she was on ebay getting me a 4bbl intake. What a Mopar loving family.

I picked up the idea from an old car restorer, from way back. The beauty of it all is that you can do this to any ol' aluminum intake, water neck, anything. It also has the cool effect of sealing up "weeping" aluminum. You spray a thin/ light-medium coat of aluminum paint over the whole part. I use Engine paint from NAPA, Plasti-Coat I believe. I can't remember the number. The paint has to be mixed very good, so shake, shake, shake. :D (C'mon, KC..)
Then take a lint free rag, and gently rub the paint off the whole intake, like your smoothing it. It has the effect of making the part look new/natrual, while reducing build-up. It just doesn't look painted. I smoothed the intake, not needed, but I wanted it smooth.

(I'm getting the hang of this picture posting, but let me know how it looks.)
Take care,
