Good day, I've ordered a Offy intake & Eldebrock 500 cfm carb, with Hookers for my 225 build. I noticed in researching parts that Clifford intakes have a water passage built into them to heat the intake. Has anyone using an Offy intake had any trouble with icing up or running poorly when cold or after they warm up? If performance issues may be a problem I'm just trying to get out in front of them if I need to fabricate or buy something to resolve them.
Thanks Derek

Manifold heating is a very good idea if you're driving on the street. Does several good things and nothing bad for you. See here.

Thanks for the link to previous discussion on intake manifold heating, maybe I should have ordered a Clifford intake instead of an Offy. Is there any performance gain from Clifford vs Offy? Has anyone tried a sheet metal stove pipe to heat their intake from headers? will the intake eventually warm up from the header heat? I ordered a my carb with a manual choke to assist in cold starts & warm up. I appreciate any & all comments.
Derek

Ummmmm....*blink blink*...

How did you ever get that idea out of the link I provided? :?:

You'd have to do a lot more work to provide carb heat on the clifford, because of no under-manifold bolt-on provisions for e.g. Frank Raso's water box. And Clifford's customer service and (non)delivery of purchased parts are stinkin'.

For this to work, you'd need constant air draw across the headers, through the stovepipe and across (or through) the intake. The plumbing would be pretty nightmarish.

No. See the previously linked thread for detailed discussion of why manifold heat isn't just a "cold morning startup" thing.
