http://racetransmissions.com/store/inde ... 21_449_459 I have a daily driver .030 over bored , super six, A904 Transmission. I am having the rear main seal replaced and having my transmission swapped with my old one (I just put the used engine Tranny Combo in, my old one was better) that has a stage 1 shift kit in it. I was double pedaling for a while with my old engine and want to replace the Torque converter since the transmission will be out any way. What off the shelf unit do you all recommend, The link provided gives me options I did not know I had. 1970 Swinger with a 71 engine in it and a 70 Transmission. What stall is the factory high stall? Ugh Part numbers would be great, would like to keep cost between 100 - 150. Regards, Tim |

I answered my own question. After doing some research, and understanding that you get what you pay for... I decided I wanted (for my present application and budget) OEM or better quality with a slightly higher then stock stall. accuratetrans.com, they carry stock style (re-manufactured in Illinois) torque converters with beefier welds and guts in three stall varieties L1, L2, L3. One being Stock, 2 being mild street strip, three being aggressive street/strip. Since I have the stock cam, I am going with a level 2 which is a low 2000s stall. I feel it will match well with the Ford 8" 3.00 rear I am installing this spring. They have a really good reputation and I can order from them (they tell me) through my local Autozone or other retailer. Part number 762-L2 Now we all know that compared to an Edge racing torque converter, this does not compare, but as a lower cost replacement for the stock unit, I think a good choice. |

Good up-date and good job doing some "leg-work" on this. It is hard to get a good quality converter for the low cost you quoted. Keep us posted on how it works out. DD |
