I'm surprised that I haven't seen any comments on this yet. Keisler uses a GM 4L60E with a custom bell and tail housing to make them a bolt-in swap on Mopar V8s. All for the low, low price of $3495.00. Any comments?

I use a 4L60 in a fleet vehicle everyday. It is not my choice of a OD transmission. I can lunch a sun gear at will. Given the choice I would much rather have a T5....T56 or 4L80.

Given you can bolt on an A500 or 518 why would one pay $3000 for a trans(thats what a good one costs here) and another $3500 for the swap?

Keisler's reputation is for selling expensive stuff that works OK if you're lucky and doesn't if you're not...and for not standing behind his products in a helpful or efficient fashion if you're one of the unlucky ones.

True dat. The one they had in a Mopar for the Power Cruise exploded. They had a lot of excuses, but to me that still made them look foolish. Keisler is a hot topic on Moparts, both good and bad.

I have had experience with Keisler and it wasnt good.I got one of the first few 5 spd conversions they made for a 72 Roadrunner clone with a 360 Magnum engine. When I ordered the kit I opted for the Hydro clutch as my car was an auto trans car and thought the hydro conversion would be easier......WRONG!!!! The hydro clutch kit they sent was an universal tube frame racecar setup that no way in hell would work with a stock b-body with power brakes. They were selling a product that they had never even put in a vehicle or done any kind of R andD WORK ON. When I called to ask advice ,Shaffi Keisler seemed kinda arrogant and couldnt offer any advice other than telling me "Just run a rod to the master cylinder" which let me know that they had never done a hydro setup.
I ended up using a clutch master from Mcleod ,designed for a late Corvette or Camaro.I photographed and dated what I did and sent the pictures to Keisler and lo and behold about 6 months later Mopar action did a article on Keislers new hydro clutch setup which was damn near identicle to the pictures that I sent them(I still have the disc with dated pictures),The article stated how they devoloped this set therselves.
If they would just have said that
one of their customers helped I would have been fine with it but they took the glory that cost me $300 extra and wouldnt even take back the unusable hydro setup they stuck me with(it was completely unused) ,That was just one of the problems I had with my Keisler experience.
HELL YES,Ive got isses eith Keisler    .

are you looking for an AOD or a 5spd coversion? check out this site:

http://www.classicmopar5speed.com/

Classic Motorsports has just released a 5spd kit that uses a tremec trans. right now they only have the one kit but are looking to expand the line. i have seen the kit personally and it is top notch. they prefer using a mechanical clutch linkage. everything i saw in the kit was either cnc machined or laser cut and tig welded(trans mount bracket). like i said, beautiful kit and looks like it would be a breeze to install.

look at the FAQ for the mopar A body install. It really starts to look and sound like it is anything but bolt in. For that kinda money I want a hassle free instalation. cutting of torsion bar crossmember, modifying the trans mount. I'm all for doing that on a DIY T5 install but not for $3,500

Passon performance is now making a Hemi OD gear set. It has the 18 spline input shaft with a .80 fourth gear. The first three gears are evenly spaced though. However, the gear set costs about $1600, and a fully built version costs $3000, but it is a bolt in deal for manually shifted cars, no cutting whatsoever. Major overkill for a mild slant, but cheaper then Keisler, and you don't have to cut your car up.
