I'm looking to buy an extra distributor to start recurving. I went to car-part.com and it asks if I am looking for one for a MT or AT. Would one or the other be a better starting point? (my car is an automatic) Also, I take it that year doesn't matter and the governor is hit or miss? As long as it is an electronic distributor? Thanks |

If you are going to mess with it anyway, it shouldn´t matter, as long as it is a regular electronic one, not a lean burn |

If the distributor they have pulled still has a tag and is OEM, then two "good" numbers are: 3874714 (1976 EI Distributor) 3874876 (1978 Super Six Distributor) both if stock have a "short" slot governor to play with and also come with a long vaccuum advance for mileage purposes, you will just have to dial in the spring advance rate and when the vacc. adv. works for your car's needs (if your 73 is stock with a Holley 1920 1 barrel, the 1976 distributor would be good enough "stock" vs. your 1973 distributor). -D.Idiot |
