Hey,
I've been having lots of problems with my slant lately; fuel consumption is too high, it vibrates a lot when I take off (actually feels like a huge rattle) and you can feel a very important lack of power, and I hate that recently it stalls when I stop at a light or when I slow down to turn or pass a bump... there is no knocking or pinging though.
For starters, the engine is not in very good shape, it really needs an overhaul, but I think I can squeeze a few more miles of it before the big repair. The carburator is not working properly also, I need to replace it for sure also... anyways, the car has been like that for a while now, but it used tu run good enough by making the usual small adjustments. The problems started when I took it to the shop to have the brake booster repaired. I had to adjust the carb the best I could to keep it running because obviously the vaccum was altered, but the car just don't go back to a fair driving contidition.
It is important to note that I have no mechanical or tecnical training whatsoever, I just use my logic and ask for advise to the guys that know the stuff. I also sometimes follow the instructions of the Haynes repair manual, although some of you guys already told me to use it instead as a doorstop in my garage. Well, I believe that I may ease the problems by adjusting the timing and/or the advance, I am not sure of the terms or even what the heck are both
I have my light gun, but have no idea on how to do it. Also, the sticker with the specs for the engine is gone and I don't know why but I think that the vibration damper slipped (the weird thing is that I have no idea what is a vibration damper and how it slips, if it does. But I may have heard of it).
Can you help me adjust my slant?
