I'm running a Super 6, MP 243 cam right now. Other than a 2.25 single exhaust and maybe a .060 mill, I don't plan on any other performance mods in the next few years. Would standard size backcut valves make a noticeable difference on a mild build-up like this? |

At what point do backcut or oversized valves become a worthwhile improvement? I apologize for my ignorance on this subject, but I figure this is the one place where I can get an honest answer. |

I always see it as the final touch of a good porting job. It helps get the last possible bit of improvement from other mods, but does very little on it's own.

Thanks. It sounds like my local "mopar expert" steered me wrong.  I bought a set of Direct Connection high-flow valves at his recommendation, but it sounds like I'd be better off trading them for something more useful.

The key here is some basic head "pocket porting" combined with the oversize valves. Port the head, mill it for some added compression and install oversize valves and you will notice a performance improvement. To install O/S valves with-out doing the basic porting work needed to open up the area directly under the valve seat, is a waste. DD |
