Hey Guys&Gals,

I am recently in the process of dropping a new 225 in my 73Duster im almost finished but i went back to the original intake and a holley 1920 carb...and it seems that i am missing a Trans Kickdown Linkage. The local mechanic told me there are differnt kinds for differnet carbs...im new to the whole slant six scene...and im totally confused. i just wanted to know if any of you guy might know a site where i can buy one...and maybe a picture so i can look through my parts boxes and see if i have one there...i have looked but havent found anything yet :?
Thanks,
DB

Three places (besides local junkyard)
1) E-Bay
2) www.car-part.com
3) Ask on the parts wanted section of this site. I believe most of us have a 1bbl kickdown set up we would be willing to part with. Most for cost of shipping and handling fee.

Regards,

Tim

The kickdown linkage is not dependent on the type of 1bbl carb. All the 1bbl kickdown linkages are the same from '68-up, with the exception of the length of the rod that runs from the carburetor throttle lever to the bellcrank on the bracket that bolts to the exhaust manifold. Starting in '70, when the carburetor-to-manifold gasket got thicker (3/8" instead of 3/16") to better insulate the carb from heat, this rod I'm talking about grew slightly longer, too.

Driving the car without the kickdown linkage installed and properly adjusted is extremely hard on the transmission.

You will probably not find the linkage you need via www.car-part.com . That is a very useful site for finding used parts, but "kickdown linkage" isn't one of the parts you can search for (neither can you search for "glovebox" or any of many other small parts not normally requiring replacement...sad but true). But, someone here on the site will have what you need. Post in the "Parts Wanted" forum.

If you have a junkyard in the area, it doesn't hurt to take a walk around and see if they have any "old mopars"...pretty much like Dan said, you should be able to snag the rod from any 1970-1979 car with a 1 barrel slant six setup (might be easier to find a Volare/Aspen with a 1 barrel slant than a Duster/Dart/Valiant in good condition)...pulling it is a matter of using a set of pliers and a set of wrenches of the appropriate size (I just take the assembly whole sale, most yards charge you for it anyway).

If you send me a PM with your email address I will send you a picture of a holley 1920 with the kickdown linkage assembly, all connected up and running on my '68.
