Does anyone know if it is possible to change the rear bumper/quarter area from a 74 dart swinger to a 73 dart? I have to replace the rear quarters on my car anyway, it really looks like just the extensions and bumper/valance are different. Wondering if anyone has ever done this.

Personally, I have never done this swap.
I would think that it would be a matter of finding the earlier bumper brackets in order to swap-off the big & heavy impact "shock absorbers" used to mount the 74's bumper.

1973 is the older style on the rear bumper only, so to do the swap you would need to modify to match the rear sheetmetal/etc... from the 1974 Dart...I would keep the 1973 stuff it's lighter than the monster 1974-1976 shocks...

I think you guys missed what i what asking, i have a 74 with the huge ugly rear bumper, i want to swap out to the smaller bumper of the 70-73 style. It appears that all that is different is the rear bumper, quarter extensions and lower valance. The quarters and trunk lid look identical. I was just wondering if anyone has ever seen a swap done. I would not know for sure if it would work until i took it all apart and tried, but if anyone has any ideas i would appreciate it.

a while ago I saw a guy with a 75 dart with the stuff off of a 72 on it so I asked him (cuz I have all the stuff to do it but I didn't want to run into problems 1/2 way threw) he told me it was a direct swap I haven't done it yet to see if he was correct don't have the time.

thanks for the reply, that is what i was hoping to hear, if anyone else has seen this done or has any advice, please chime in. I guess what i would need is a bumper with lights, the valance and the quarter extensions. Anything i am missing?

well i would sell you my stuff but you are kinda far and it would be very expensive to ship (the bumper is a good 80-100lbs)

i see people on ebay selling bumpers all the time, i dont think it is that bad, as long as it does not go over the size limit Fed EX will ship it. Also Greyhound freight is very cheap. If you have everything i need think about what you need to make it worth your while.
