Welcome to the board. If I am reading correctly, you are trying to put a Slant into where the 318 came out of? Basics you will need are the motor mounts and oil pan/pickup for that chassis, a compatible trans for that chassis or a shifter for the trans you have, (original was a push button, right?), driveshaft to match your trans/rear, and an exhaust system. If you try to mate the late motor to an early PB trans you will also need a crank spacer from www.wildcatmopars.com . Sounds like a fun project. |

I think you will find this page of links helpful: http://www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/restore2003.htmlAlso take a look around on the rest of that site, as you should be able to find more information specific to your car. |

I am replying here, to a PM about mounts. If I am wrong, someone please correct me. This conversion could be a problem, if you are trying to use "factory" parts, everything is different. These are factory part numbers, for the 64-65 "B" body. "K" member , six cyl 2204199, V-8 2401057. Engine brackets, six cyl 2264679 & 2264678, V-8 2402185 (2) Insulators, six cyl 2264675 & 2264674, V-8 2402183 & 2402182 This info was taken from the Direct Connection Chassis modification manual, # P4286520 dated 1982. So to do this swap, without a "donor" car. It would be easier to fabricate the mounts. |

Let see, post 62 B body 318 auto car (assuming it is a auto trans) swap a 225 in? 1- the 225 will not bolt to the 318 auto without a spacer used in the trucks in those years, spacer makes up the differance between the v8 bell and the \6 bolt pattern since the trucks all used the A727-A behind the \6 (no cars ever used this system, trucks only). Only other option here is to use a \6 904 swaping out the v8 trans. 2- crank bolt patterns are differant 6 to 8, so the flex plate will need to be changed. 3- the tork converter changed to the \6 type since the center for the converter is differant (smaller than the v8 converter) were it fits in to the crank. 4-engine mount issues, as above, to the K frame |
