I notice in my Felpro engine gasket kit includes something called a 'retainer bolt spacer sleeve'. I'm guessing they must have had some reason for including it, but I'm at a loss. BTW I'm working on a 75 or 76 engine (/6 of course). |

I noticed the same thing recently, my kit had a little sheet on rear main seal installation that mentioned the retainers but they weren't in my kit. |

Thanks 65 Deuce, That reinforces my suspicion that these (inch long plastic tubes) probably go in the bolt holes in the rear main retainer. I guess I left the old ones in place when I changed the rear main seal. Hope that works out. I just buttoned up the oil pan and timing cover ahead of the noreaster. Might delay the swap if we get any accumulation. |

I have a new felpro set I am saving for a rebuild. I noticed those things too and had the same response. Good point to be aware of. I'll check the factory manual when I get a chance and see if they show them in there as well. |
