Hi ya'll, I have a question about The trans in my buddies 77 volare. As far as he knows it is the factory 4 speed, a did some searching and It sounds like a A833 ? Would this be right? I found a website about using the A833 in my 73 nova. Also what is a "New process A833" That was speciafically what was used , is mine from the volare a "new Process"? Thanks

"New Process" is the name of the company, all Mopar 833 4-speeds are made by New Process.

Has anyone ever did or saw one of this hybrid swaps I'm trying to do? I did a little more searching and couldn't really find a source for the bell housings...

I have seen a special New Process 833 4-speed built with the GM bell housing bolt pattern and input shaft. The one I saw was out of a 1/2 ton Truck. Call around to Truck wrecking yards to see if they have more info.

For what it's worth, New Process, a division of New Venture, was owned by Chrysler, then Dainler-Chrysler, until a couple of years ago when they sold an 80% stake to a Canadian company. New Process and New Venture trannys, transfer cases, and other drivetrain components have been extensively used by several companies, including GM.

Growing older is unavoidable but growing up is strictly optional.

Lakewood used to make a scattershield that had the 833 pattern in it for Chevy motors, and also the adapter pilot bearing for the Chevy crank.

One note, the 833 out of the Volare will probably be an aluminum case overdrive unit.
