Post subject:  Time delay relay neccessay ?

My 75 Dart has a time delay relay in the wiring system. I have two questions : 1, What does it do (hold a charge until dash lights go out) ?
2, Can I remove it from my wiring harness ?

I'm going to rewire my under dash harness and I would like to eliminate as may extra ciruits as possible. I have already removed the rear window defroster harness (the rear window had already been replaced when I bought the car- no defroster wires in the glass), the map light and switch, glove box light, seatbelt interlock harness, and cigarette lighter.

Thanks Jeff

That's for the little light that shines on your ignition lock. The delay relay keeps this lamp lit for about 10 seconds after you close the door so you can easily see where to put the key at night.

Thanks Dan !
Also went on to Terminal Supply's web site - lots of good stuff !
Have you purchased from these folks before , in particular their wire ? I am looking at Painless (seems pricey) and the the Summit brand of wire.
Any thoughts ?

Thanks, Jeff

Yep, I have been a Terminal Supply customer for a bunch of years.

Painless = overpriced junk, don't buy.

I'm sure Summit carries OK wire, but why mess with mail order? You can get good Belden wire at your nearest NAPA.
