I Looked around the forum and didn't see this topic, but I'm sure it has been discussed.I picked up a 63 valiant 170 and want to swap the hard throttle linkage to cable for the gas pedal. Any advice? |

How best to go about doing this depends on what you want to achieve in the end. What are your goals? Want to run a different kind of carburetor(s)? Is it important to you that the accelerator pedal retains its original 1963 appearance? Also, are you working with an automatic or manual transmission? |

On my '66 I used a pedal out of a 71 Dart and a Lokar cable. |

On my 65 originally equipped with a BBS I used a 69 pedal and cable with the bracketry that came with the Aspen Super 6 manifold. I added a 66 v8 BBD. Only a little choke linkage work was necessary. The 69 pedal is not a real good fit in the 65...... |

Thanks for the replies, yes it is a auto trans, other than converting it to cable everything will remain stock. The car will be delivered tomorrow have not seen it yet but was told that the linkage has problems. |

For the correct peddle, the "direct bolt-in" parts are from 64-66 A-Body V8 and 65-66 SL6 cars with factory AC. These parts have the matching rubber peddle pad pattern. Later parts can be installed as noted above and you can also do some "custom modifications" to make the current rod system peddle work with later "hanging peddle" assemblies. One note, cable length is different based on the carb. you will be using. The cables all inter-change so that is not an issue as long as you have the correct length cable. DD |

Has anyone used a hydraulic throttle line? I've seen them in catalogs, never knew of anyone to use one. Just curious. |

A buddy of mine used a hydraulic throttle on a 427 Ford powered altered back in the '70's. He ran the line too close to the headers and when the oil expanded it took the carb partially open and crashed the car in the pits.I haven't seen anyone use one on a drag car since. |
