My dash backlights work pretty well, except the Alternator gauge and the temp gauge don't light (I assume bulbs burned out). In addition, neither of my turn signal indicators light up, and if there's an indicator for high beams, it doesn't work either. What bulbs will I need, and how difficult is it to change these? Thanks in advance. |

I used a 194LL sylvania to replace mine. I managed to do it with out pulling the gauge panel. The alt one was kind of tough, but with a little patience, it can be done. If you have huge forearms, you may be better off pulling the cluster panel or finding somebody who is flexible. Somebody who is bendable and slender wouldn't have too much trouble. You just reach up there, give the bulb holder a little twist to the left, and the bulb holder comes out. I have a 73 Swinger, yours may be different. |

Now might also be a good time to replace the sockets the bulbs go into. Your originals may be corroded or have some broken tabs on them. If so, Napa sells some nice ones part number ECH LS6501 that are better built than the originals and fit more snug with larger contacts. I replaced all mine with them...they are around 3 or 4 bucks if I remember correctly. |
