Post subject:  Did Firm Feel send the wrong washer?

I got my rebuilt power steering box from Firm Feel a few days ago, but they neglected to send my pittman arm, they sent that, got it a couple of days ago. The valve body was not attached, has new o-rings, and a new copper washer.

Went to put in my new steering box after work today, started to attache the valve body, but the copper washer is too small to fit in the spot that seems like it should go. I have never had this apart before, so maybe it goes somewhere else and I am not doing this right. My question, does the copper washer go in the grooved area below the big o-ring? If not, where does it go? If I need a bigger washer, are these readily available at hardware stores? My car has been down for a month and I was really looking forward to a nice drive tomorrow.

Below is a link to pics I took of the problem

No, the only thing that goes under the valve body is the two O-rings. The copper washer is for up topside. It is used only if your P/S pressure hose is the kind that has the female threads on the fitting that attaches to the P/S box. If that is the case, then there is a male/male adaptor that screws into the female threads in the P/S box valve body and provides male threads onto which for the P/S hose end to screw. The copper washer goes between the flange of that male/male adaptor and the top surface of the P/S valve body.

If your P/S pressure hose has male threads on the fitting that attaches to the P/S box, then neither the male/male adaptor nor the copper washer is used.
