This can be a complicated issue. What are your goals for the car and what type of fuel, cam, induction do you want to run? Physically, you can mill the head about 0.140" or more, which would give you something like 10.5:1 comp on a stock block. Lou |

Educated guesses: For 87 octane, mill it 0.060". For high octane pump gas, mill it 0.100-0.120" The bigger mill may require custom pushrods. Lou |

I will have it milled to .050 just to be on the safe side. Thanks for the info. |

I would go for the .060, you will lose about .015 due to the thicker aftermarket head gasket

The cylinder head on my s/6 has been milled down so there is no edge,(on the shallow side) and the "thumb print is gone" It ran ok on 95RON PULP. Had a modified dizzy, and it pulled like hell. Would do 120MPH and sit on it for 20mins or so. If you got a decent cam, you'll need the compression to make it work for you. |
