| Post subject: | Steering Column noises> |
HI there, New here but too nes to slants. I have a 79 d-100 with a slant and a three on the tree shifter. I have been having some serious rattles and other minor noises coming from my steering column as of late. It is really bad when cold and when first driven. It gets a little better when it is warmer outside and when the truck is warmed up after about 5-6 miles. Any help would be nice and from what vehicles could I get a replacement from? Any aftermarket ones? Just looking. I looked online for parts and I saw that there might be difference between manual or power steering and when the truck was manufactured. THanks in advance, Paul in Ohio. |

Just taking a guess here, but the bushings for all the shift linkage may be worn out. |

| Post subject: | Could be. |
It very well could be but sounds like it is right on top of the steering wheel. I haven't had a chance to look at anything under the truck due to the weather and my job. Is there any place where I can get new bushings. I know things for this old of a vehicle are getting pretty hard to find. Thanks, Paul. |

I Too Have A Cold Weather Rattle That Seems To Come From The 'Top Of The Wheel' (Not Where One Would Put Their Hands) But There Is No Shifter Linkage Involved Seeing As It's An Automatic... |

It can also be felt especially when going over rougher roads and such. I do need to check my front end but i can stop the majority of the noises and vibration/rattles by holding the steering wheel either with pressure down or up on the steering wheel. |
