Post subject: | Yet another wheel fitment question |
OK, I've read through quite a few posts to find what wheels and tires will fit my 1965 Barracuda. I'm going to be upgrading the 10" front drum brakes with the SSBC disc brake kit. A trial fit of my 14" x 5.5 small bolt pattern wheels shows they will not work with the new brakes. I've decided to go with 15" x 7" Rallye wheels from Vintique with a 4.25" backspace. I've purchased one wheel to test fit. I have a set of 205/60/15 tires to use. If I mount a tire on the Vintique wheel and it doesn't fit the car, I can't return the wheel. Do you think I will have any fitment problems with this set up? Thanks for your advice, Don |

I cannot imagine your having any fitment problems with 15" × 7" wheels, no. But I am curious: Which 14" × 5½" wheels were you trying, and what exactly was the fitment problem? |

The 14" wheels I have are the wider type as used on the Formula S Barracuda. I do know the 14" Mopar rallye wheels will fit, perhaps because the interior welds are different. The disc brakes are not yet installed, I just laid a disc with caliper and pads into the rim and see that the caliper will rub. Thanks, Don |

Don , currently we are running 15x7 4 1/4 backspace with 215 60 15 and 225 60 15 on a 63 Valiant with no rubbing issues. all that was necessary was removing a 2" glob of undercoat from the rear wheel house . Plenty of clearance. No problem on the front.Tire size choices are more with the 15's. |

i use 205/65-15s on a set of mid 80s Ford Ranger wheels on my 1965 cuda. don't know squat about them, except what they came off of....and they work great. in my humble opinion they look purty good, too. sb |

I thought that kit was basically the same as 67-72 SBP KH's I cant imagine the 14X5 1/2" wouldn't fit over those. but I'll find out later today when I mock mine up. |

I installed my new wheels and tires today. The wheels are made by Wheel Vintiques and are 15" x 7" with a 4.25" backspace, small bolt pattern. The tires are Goodyear Eagle GT HR 205/60/15. The car rides and handles much better. It' quieter too! Don ![]() ![]() |
