O.K.. I read for 1 hour after searching for "recurving". Part # is:3656257. It has points, with an adjustable vac. advance. It has 9.5X stamped on the arm. It also has the "high-performance" 15R piece. ![]() ![]() My question is, how long is the slot on a 10R? I read and read, but I either ran over it, or didn't understand. This is the only dizzy I have, so I'd rather do it right the first time. Thanks guys, BBBanjo |

To determine slot length you need to do some measuring and some math........... 1. Measure diameter of pin 2. Measure length of existing slot 3. 2. - 1. = existing movement available 4. 3. / (existing degrees advance) = distance per degree 5. 4. * (degrees wanted) = movement wanted 6. 5. + 1. = new length of slot. |

emsvitil, thanks for the info! Doc: I have no idea. I'm getting ready to start up my slant for the first time. I did understand I want alot of initial, I just thought I'd go ahead and modify the part before, so I have that much less to deal with later. I'll be driving everyday, so I don't need a race curve...just something to go with the better cam and intake. I'll have to fine tune it after she gets broke in. Thanks, BBBanjo |

If you're just starting up the motor for the first time, just run the stock distributor at a lower setting like TDC so you can break it in without worry of pinging, then once everything is 'worn in /worked out' then you should change your timing curve... Even my timing curve is nothing like it was when I started my mill the first time...better safe than sorry...Time to get a second distributor (one for driving, and one for 'testing'). -D.Idiot |
