I have a slant six that I had rebuilt and ran great for a few months, but like always I had to change something again. I upgraded to a dutra dual exhaust, super six conversion (had 1 barrel), and hei conversion. It will start and if I'm going down the road with my foot on the gas it doesn't run too bad, but as soon as I take my foot off the gas or set at idle it will die. Could this be in the NOS carter 2 barrel I added or in the used distributor I installed with my hei. I made the classic mistake of adding too many upgrades at once and now I can't find my problem.

Might want to turn up the idle screw and see if that helps. But a NOS carburetor sounds like it might have problems - rubber seals have a limited shelf life. Sure, it's years, but they can dry-rot.

I bought a rebuilt BBD that set a long time. I disassembled it. The accelerator pump rubber looked dry. I dipped it in brake fluid. Then re assembled it. Squirts really nice. It may have helped, maybe it didn't.
