Post subject:  Tell me about this cam

I don't know much about cam selection. Can someone tell me what I should expect from this cam.
1. Idle quality
2. Torque range
3. Likely converter stall speed
4. Fuel economy
5. ect
This is going into a slant with a 3.59 bore and 4.25 stroke. 470 holley oversized valves, 10.3 - 10.4:1 compression. 3.55 rear gear.

Just checking my builder.
Also, what is the overlap of this cam? Is it 34?

1. Idle quality- That is a relative thing. What I accept as good idle you may not. It will be "lumpy". You will need a relatively loose torque converter.

2. Torque range- Offhand I would say about 1800-2000 up. Cam will probably quit pulling around 6500 or so.

3. Converter stall-I would run at least a 3000 stall, 3500 would be better.

4. Fuel economy-Unknown term, please clarify?

My ole buddy Bagel is right on this one . With your engine build fuel economy did not seem to be a issue. I think it will a hoot to drive on the street or strip with 3.55 gears. Thanks Ron Parker :D

discribe "hoot"?
Hoot being a pain on the street or funwith a big :D
I am not really concerned about fuel mileage, just wondering if it'll still be above 10 mpg.
What RPM do you think I will need to idle at?
I don't plan to rev higher than 6200

Overlap at .050 lift is 20*, which is noted on the card.
Overlap is usually rated at advertised duration, or .006 lift, not the .050 rating.
You'll need to know the advertised duration to calculate what is considered overlap. I don't see any recording of the advertised duration on your card.

Hoot meaning it should be a great street car and draw attention. Matching up componts will make this even better. The 3.55 gear is a to me a great street gear and a good strip gear. I agree with Bagels Converter selection. It should idle about 900 rpm in gear Four barrel carb and Dutra Duals that dog can hunt. :D Thanks Ron Parker
PS I think it would easy get 10 mpg according to how much fun you want to have.
