I am a supplier for Turbos Unleashed (www.turbosunleashed.com) for ported exhaust manifolds, intakes, doo-dads to work with his other products, etc. I was on the phone with him today and asked him if he'd be interested in being a supplier for the Slant-6 crowd. His response was find out what you folks are looking for and what sort of interest there is. He is already working with ARP, Fidenza, Acufab, and many other manufacturers that makes for preferred pricing. Here are some ideas we talked about: - Inexpensive EFI kit - Turbo kit - Engine hardware (ARP, gaskets, bearings, etc.) - Pistons - Aluminum flywheels - Intercoolers There are other items that could be tailored to the Slant, but let me know what you think. Well, I think a well-engineered and affordable EFI kit would certainly be welcome in the market. Gaskets? Did I hear you say gaskets? Yes, please! See here and here. Zero progress since those threads were posted. Perhaps if Cometic or another speciality gasket maker were approached by an existing volume customer, things would be different. Let's see, what else do we want? Oh, y'know, the usual...an affordable, well-designed aluminum cylinder head... |

My budget doesn't permit it now, but in the future a good affordable EFI kit would be awesome. An affordable turbo kit would be nice too but to reach the widest possible audience it should all be pretty much "plug 'n play." Few people have the kind of fabrication skills needed to pull these conversions off with generic parts. |

I would be interested in hearing about an EFI kit. any information on what is considered "affordable" would be nice too....... |

The target price for the "affordable" EFI kit is $1200 or less, with all new parts (sans the intake which would be a modified stock 1-bbl unit). I'm working on seeing what it would take to get Cometic gaskets in the works. The plan is to make them compatible with the aluminum block, but then use them on the iron blocks as well. This brings me to a question. If needed (and I don't yet know if it will be), could somebody supply a used gasket to model from? Would it be possible to have a tracer made up of the block so Cometic knows where they can put the rivits? How many would be interested in a Cometic gasket at a price of around $129? (Check around, these are top-of-the-line, but aren't cheap.) Mike |

Yep. In order to create a big enough pool of buyers, we'd probably need this gasket to be available with a few different cylinder bore sizes, because there are two main groups of people who'd want them: those using the aluminum engine, and those running giant overbores on the iron engine. I'm sure of it. Ping Doctor Dodge. One of us could probably even come up with a new gasket to work from, which I imagine would probably be preferable.Quote: Would it be possible to have a tracer made up of the block so Cometic knows where they can put the rivits?
Doctor Dodge is probably the best one to help there.Quote: How many would be interested in a Cometic gasket at a price of around $129?
I have aluminum engines, therefore I am genuinely interested. I really think pretty much everyone running one of these engines would probably be interested; the stock gasket is not only not a terrific design (1960 technology) but is also getting hard to find. I know the MLS gaskets are well regarded for their sealing of combustion pressure, but how do they do with the other sealing tasks (oil, water, etc.)? Is there some kind of rubberlike coating that can be applied during manufacture to help seal those areas? |

There is a "painted on" sealer around the coolant passages on the ones I've worked with for the later Dodge 4-cylinders. This is combined with the raised ridge that compresses to help sealing.Mike |

a serpentine belt setup would be good also with the turbo setup, u could look into makin to to work witht he dutra duals somehow. that would save money for some ppl, and possibly also cost of the kit. |
