when i finish my exhaust i'd like to advance my timing a little, it's at 10, and richen the mixture to compensate for the effect of less exhaust restriction, what settings on the carb do i need to adjust, i have an 83 Dodge pickup with the Holley 1945 i believe.

Just advancing the timing and richening the mixture at random isn't likely to get you anywhere you'd like to go. These things have to be done based on data, not just guesses.
