I am replacing my heater core, so I am also replacing the wiper pivot seal on the right (will do the left in a couple of weeks when I replace the gauges). How do you get the linkage separated from the pivot assembly? The FSM just says pry the link bushing using tool # c-3982. Of course, to get the wiper arm off, I used a screwdriver on top of a rag. So I don't have a special wiper tool. There is a rubber (or plastic) bushing there. It is tough to see since it faces up and away. Before I start prying (and breaking?) stuff, I thought I would ask if anybody has a method or common tool that works best. |

It's a tough nylon bushing that attaches the linkage arm to the pivot. If your's has been in there long enough to yellow, it might have some cracks in it and should be replaced. The good news is they are still available, cheap, in the HELP section of your auto parts store. I used channel locks and a screwdriver to remove mine, but I was planning on replacing them. On the new ones, if you heat them with hot water you can press them in by hand. Remember to fill the center of the bushing with white lithium grease before popping it to the pivot and it'll be good for a couple of decades. Sounds like you are doing a lot of other replacing in that neighborhood; could be cheap insurance to go ahead and replace the bushings too. RWood |

Yes, they are available from parts stores, but I like the dealer ones better. The plastic seems slightly softer, and easier install. You will need 4 of them for a complete job (which I advise). The "HELP" parts come in a package assortment, for different makes (used to be one make only package). The new pack only has 2 Mopar bushings, so you need to purchase two packs.
