Post subject:  Trans leak

My trans has a leak. I got one of those reusable, rigid gaskets from the Dodge dealer and changed it out, cleaned everything up. A while back I got a new trans pan I got from Summit. One of those extra quart kind with the drain plug. After taking it for a cruise, it still leaks, but now I think it may be the neutral safety switch. Damn fluid finds every nook and cranny, so it is a little hard to tell, plus, I can't really see the safety switch behind the exhaust.

Is the neutral safety switch supposed to have a rubber gasket? Or is that metal gasket the only thing that seals it.

Update, the neutral safety switch I had put in before had a plain metal gasket. After checking out the Neihoff switch ($10) at Kragen, it had the same metal gasket. I ordered a Standard Motor Products from Kragen($21, also available at Summit), and lo and behold, the metal gasket had a rubberized coating. One again, crap quality for cheap may not actually save you money. The part Standard Motor Products switch part number is NS11.

if you did the new gasket from mopar make sure you got the updated bolts (mine leaked when I did not use the new bolt I don't know why exactly) the new bolt's are a little longer

I ordered them yesterday (they only had seven in stock). It did spring a leak about a two months after I put it on. One of the bolts wasn't grabbing good enough anymore. I put in a longer bolt in that hole and the leak stopped.

Maybe the original bolts can damage the lower threads because thay are a little short and vibrations will take their toll? After reading your earlier post about this, I decided to go the longer bolts on the whole pan.
