| Post subject: | Trans leak |
My trans has a leak. I got one of those reusable, rigid gaskets from the Dodge dealer and changed it out, cleaned everything up. A while back I got a new trans pan I got from Summit. One of those extra quart kind with the drain plug. After taking it for a cruise, it still leaks, but now I think it may be the neutral safety switch. Damn fluid finds every nook and cranny, so it is a little hard to tell, plus, I can't really see the safety switch behind the exhaust. Is the neutral safety switch supposed to have a rubber gasket? Or is that metal gasket the only thing that seals it. |

if you did the new gasket from mopar make sure you got the updated bolts (mine leaked when I did not use the new bolt I don't know why exactly) the new bolt's are a little longer |

I ordered them yesterday (they only had seven in stock). It did spring a leak about a two months after I put it on. One of the bolts wasn't grabbing good enough anymore. I put in a longer bolt in that hole and the leak stopped. Maybe the original bolts can damage the lower threads because thay are a little short and vibrations will take their toll? After reading your earlier post about this, I decided to go the longer bolts on the whole pan. |
