I put the 2300 carb on my slant. It used to shift very firmly. Now from 2-3 the shift is long and slow. I reworked the single barrel linkage to work. Here is a photo http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=5094112 Does anyone see any problems? At WOT the kickdown lever seems to be all the way back.

Just looking at your linkage setup, it seems to me that you probably do not have sufficient travel in the throttle pressure ("kickdown") linkage. If you examine the arc through which the original, unmodified linkage's bottom bellcrank travels from closed throttle to open throttle, you'll probably find it's considerably longer than that travelled by the throttle lever on your new carburetor, thus the problem.

I just put the same carb on my 225

on my 2300 I mounted the chrysler adapter kit that holley sells. It is a u shaped fold of 16 or 14g sheet that bolts to the two holes on the throttle linkage. The inside (passenger side) has the two bolt holes to mount it, and then you put the other chrysler adapter part on the outboard side of the 'u'. The other part is a shaft that on the inside has space to put the cable end and a small cotter pin, and on the outside has room for the kickdown lever and spring (don't know if your earlier style rod takes a spring)

The end result is that the spot where the kickdown hooks up ends up a lot closer to the big hole up and left in your pic of the one you used, and a little outboard. This has the effect of making the linkage farther from the pivot, moving it a greater distance in relation to throttle opening than how it is now.

It doesn't help that the 2300 doesn't need so much throttle to do what the one barrel would do with a lot more travel... Mine isn't dialed in yet, but It doesn't kick down unless it is pretty close to WOT.

If you got the carb new there is a pic of the bracket in the instructions. If not, message me and Ill look up the p/n If you want.
