Just take the cover off the pump and pack it with Vaseline. That's all I ever do. aschumers@aol.com |

Yup, that's what I do,I do't even pull-off the cover of the pump, I just pack some Vaaseline into the pick-up port while turning the shaft. Later I crank the installed engine over on the starter untill the oil pressure comes-up. (I leave the spark plugs out) Screw-in the plugs and light it off! DD |

Back feed through oil pressure sending unit with external pump driven from hand drill. Worked for me. |

It took me 30 years to build my car, so I guess 17 years to prime the oil pump is about right! ![]() ![]() |

As Charlie Brown used to say. "God put me on earth to accomplish certain things, and at the rate I'm going, I'll live forever"!!!!! |

Guilty as well. ![]() And on the priming; in a pinch I've used an air hose to pressurize the crankcase of an installed engine while turning it over on the starter (plugs out of course). Don't recommend it, but it can be done. |
