Post subject:  Valiant/dart window/door seal kits

I have an australian Chrysler valiant. It's odd that they called them Valiants, when they are very similar to the '67/'68 darts, only with a valiant style tail light. I'm asking you guys, because a lot of you will have cars similar to mine.
Anyway, I just blew a huge wad of cash getting my car repainted. It's been a resto project of mine for 12 years. All my window and door seals are in need of replacement. The local resto parts place (I'm in New Zealand) charge so much, that their stuff just isn't for sale. Plus a guy at work got some for his Aussie valiant pacer, and he said they were crap.
I'm looking at getting some new ones from year one but before I do, I wanted to know if they are a quality product.
What are your opinions?

Bart.

hello Bart,
have you tried Rare Spares here in Oz? google them up and look at their entry 4th from the top. rove around in there and you will find our local Valiants are listed.
I used their stuff to do my VC and bought a complete kit.they do have individual components available too.
Mopar Market.com is useful here as well. do you know of that site? I just about live on it for Valint stuff.
if you want more info on rubber locally (this side of the "pond").you can email me. (see profile function).
I will be happy to send you contact details of the Valiant spares places in Oz.

Rod ps:I am quite happy with the quality of their product.
that was 3 years ago.suppliers can change I suppose.

Blue Star Spares (in Queensland) are a reputable source for good quality Valiant bits down under, as are Pentastar Parts & Restoration. There's no call to waste money ordering these seals from Year One.

Rare spares are the local place I was talking about. We have them here in NZ too. Their stuff is outrageously over priced. (And reportedly not of a very high quality) I've been snooping around the internet, and found another place that do weatherstripping. RMP restoration parts. They Rave on their website about close to the OEM their kits are. Plus they are cheaper than year one. I'm not too concerned about buying these kits from the US, because our dollar is the highest it's been against the greenback for a long time. After 12 years, I'm more that happy to wait a bit longer for shipping, than to have to endure the disapointment of inferior quality products.

Cheers.
