A long time ago, 74 Sport (Jerry) posted an article with pics of them putting speakers into Aarons Dart. Well I liked the bracket he fabbed and as I was living in a condo with no workshop area at the time asked him to make me one.

Fast forward a couple of years as I moved around and my dart went into storage and here we are. My dart has the holes closer together than on Aarons dart, so I gave Jerry the measurements and he sent me a metal plate to hold he speakers. As I recently moved into a house, and had bought a welder I made a metal glovebox to mount my new stereo in and securely fasten it. I opted for "selective shopping" (yeah I was cheap, but stayed brand name-ish!) when buying parts. JBL speakers, Blaupunkt stereo, cant remember the ipod controller brand - but it was generic (it charges as well), total cost around $150 (not including the ipod).

The installation turned out pretty good. You cannot see the speakers under normal daylight (not as obvious as the photo taken with a flash shows them up). Also ignore the second set of holes that I drilled, I thought I would mount the speakers offset then thought better of it.

Heres the pictures of it all and thanks to Jerry for his patience! I capped it all off with my nerdy /6 welcome message!

Nice install, Ricki. Thanks for the kind words (and the plug). I haven't been here on the site for quite a while, so I was pleased to see you finally found the time to get your speakers in. Sounds like a decent (and affordable) setup.

I made a list of a few other members on this site who expressed interest in the brackets. I haven't been able to meet with my machine shop buddy to arrange for him to cut out a few more. I plan to do that this week. I'll post a message as soon as I have them available.

Glad to help,
Jerry
