Post subject: T-5 swap..

I'm not sure which transmission the guy in australia is talking about. I emailed him a couple times and got some info, I believe my previous posts included everything he told me. My memory tells me their kit was $300 or so, and it only included an adapter plate and pilot bearing. You could email them, castlemans rodshop, or something like that, do a little searching on the web. They said you can buy the kit from them and they'll give you the info on which trans you need, they also said they'll supply everything if you want..I have no idea what that would cost. I chose to go my own route.

I got a t-5 from an '88 V6 camero. I had to weld new ears to my old 3spd bellhousing, increase the input bearing register bore diameter quite a bit. after doing that I did a trial fit with a camero disc, and the input shaft splines didn't extend far enough, only 1/2 to 3/4 of the clutch splines were in contact with the input shaft. To corect this I ordered a disc from Mcleod with a ofset hub, and a more agressive friction material ($65), and I shaved about .150" off the bell housing. Now it's ok. A custom pilot bearing is required, and I chose to use the stock pressure plate and a mcleod hydrolic throwout bearing.

After doing all this I learned the ford t-5 is easier. Read the posts and email those that have done it. Also, do a search on www.slantsix.com, there is a good desctription of a ford t-5 swap there.

good luck..
