A week or so late getting this posted. I went by the Clifford Shop in Temecula & they are gone. The address in Murrieta is a home. Didn't have time to stop in but I am assuming it has become a home-based business. Their website is still up & running so they have downsized.

Interesting. I'd always figured with the range of parts they carried they would have to have a bigger building. That would explain a lot about why sometimes it seems they need time to cast the parts after you place the order...

When they were in Corona they had a few offices & a good size warehouse. When they moved to Temecula, they cut that in half. They didn't do casting or manufacturing in house. Maybe some prototype fitting and design but that was about it.

I did send them an e-mail inquiring about the move but haven't heard anything back.

The reason for the long delays in getting parts from Clifford is simple. They do not build or stock much of anything, just take orders until they get enough for a production run. In the mean time they charge your card, tell you you will have your parts in 2 weeks, and hope you don't call back soon enough to dispute your credit card.

Offenhauser appears to make most of their valve covers. A Clifford looks just like an Offy except it says Clifford on it. Yes, I have held one of each to compare side by side.

This practice is actually nothing new. I went through it with Kenne-Bell when I was racing Buicks 20 years ago.

It would not be so bad if they would just tell you up front what they were doing and didn't charge your credit card.
