Ok now on to pistons and rings. I may want to supercharge or bottle this car and it will be a full race engine. Im looking for 60 over or 100 over. We are shooting for <13 sec in 3000lb Cuda. Anyone got any reccomendations?
Thanks
Frank

Yep Custom forged pistons but you must decide when you build your engine is it a juice engine or a turbo engine or a superchager engine. One can not build a all into one race engine. And be effectent Thanks Ron Parker :D

+.100" forged nitrous pistons would be the way to go with either a hose or blower motor. Just need to decide on your CR. Nitrous pistons have a thicker top and stand up a little better to a tune-up boo-boo.

You will not need much hose to get into the 13's. My good motor ran 12:30's on a 100 shot last year.

Notice super or bottle. I no the CR can be higher for the Super charger engine. Not sure about Juice. If turbo then the CR has to be lower.
Dennis & Ron
Im just lokking for a good source that some on the racers use for forged race pistons. This engine is still on the drawing board. I have the offy intake (4bbl) and the 270 and 284? Erson cams. I plan to 0 deck mill port and polish, May have Mike do the head. Cr between 9 and 10, I know thats a lot of spread but not sure is head work first or pistons first then head. Also have headers.
Thanks
Guys

Another thought is a small shot of juice can cool the intake charge

It does not really work that way. Any shot of spray needs fuel with it or you will go super lean.

66-Zero deck with flat top pistons will give you a whole lot more than 9/10-1. IIRC, that puts you at 12-1 or so. I am working with Mike now to get a flat top nitrous style piston that will work with 225 rods for a 10-1 compression. It will be +.100".

Bagels right and I like his engine build. 10 to 1 on a juice motor. For a turbo or supercharger I like about 8.5 to 1. That is what we are shooting for on our turbo engine. My race engine was bored 100 thousand over but my engine builder was concered about cylinder disttorion with thin walls so my engine is hard blocked almost up to the cylinder head. You may have different thoughts on this but I have had no engine issues with that . Thanks Ron Parker :D

Yes, but that defeats the purpose of cooling the charge. Nitrous is a little different. Ambient temp doesn't matter because nitrous is it's own atmosphere.

It does work great for cooling an intercooler on a boost motor though. :D

Hey guys,
I too am interested in running a 6-71 blower similar to the one Mr Evans made with a 4-71. Everyone says the problem with a roots blower is heat, but from what I have been researching if I use a bigger blower and not as much boost I will make the same power, and at a lower RPM. (compared to zinging up a 4-71 to get similar results)
I also plan on injecting it on alcohol, should clear up any heating problems.

As far as CR I agree with the lower the better, around 8 to 1. Works for V8s can't see why it wouldn't with a 6. I will talk to manufacturers first and get their opinion on CR.

What kind of ignition systems do you guys use on your high performance engines, turbos, nitrous, etc.

Gary
