I remember that Ute. Its owner tried selling it (with all the same blather about "only one in America" and a whole lot more) a few times on eBay, with the opening bid set ludicrously high. Guess he's giving the master debaters at BJ a try this time. ![]() (Oh yeah, and as a '64 it's a one-of-none, 'cause the first year for Valiant utes was '65.) |

The Bayer Boys down in Ga. has a 65 Ute that looks nicer than that one and has a HyperPak intake on it.Saw it in person several years ago at the Bristol Mopar show. HyperValiant |

I had a ride in the Bayers' AP6 ('65) ute in 1993. It's definitely a nice vehicle.

It could be that this guy looked in his door jam to find the year(due to the lack of documentation) and found that his '65 model year was actually constructed in '64 - and not knowing any better, called it a '64.Right? Think about the '08 Charger down at your local Dodge dealership... |

My understanding is that Valiant Wayfarer Utes were a late addition to the Australian '65 model lineup, and it was actually 1965 (on the calendar) before any of them was built. |

Hmm. Interesting! I guess this guy really is a hack then, and needs to me smeared. |

There is going to be another ute here any day now as well.. my container I loaded in Oz is about to arrive and I sent a VF Ute across.. it is a Hemi powered one though (245 and 3 speed) Should be kinda cool to have it over, I got a kick out of the VG coupe I had last year, and the Ute is the same basic shape again ![]() |

I hate to chime in on this, but I saw the Bayer's Ute about 2 months ago at their shop, no more /6!! Has a small block in it now, 360 iirc. Still looks good, though! |

Out of curiosity, are these cars Right-Side Drive? Or am I being ignorant? ![]() |

Yep, right-hand drive cars (including Valiants) from Australia. Makes parallel parking a cinch, but overtaking on 2-lane roads is scary!

Sure wouldn't mind having an AP5 (if that's a 65) wagon to go with the rest of my 65s. Haven't tried passing on a 2 lane road in my 95 RHD Jeep, but expect it could be really interesting. Do get odd looks when driving on the interstate. Yes I use my Jeep for work (rural mail carrier) |
