I have a '78 Volare with a 225 Super Six, and its got a small rubber hose going from the carb to the air cleaner. The hose looks like any other vacuum hose, can I just remove it? If I do, should I put a vacuum plug on the carb, or not?

Thanks in advance,

Wes

Hi Wes. The vacuum hose goes to the thermostat in your air cleaner that runs the vacuum door for your heated air. When your engine is cold, warm air comes in from the shroud around your exhaust manifold. As the engine heats up, the thermostat will close and draw in air through the air horn on the air cleaner. Don't know if you need this in Texas, but if you like you can plug it off.
