Yes, I am going to be there with my 74 Dart 4-door. I'll be arriving Sat. morning.

Who else is going?

I'm gonna try to get there early Sat; have to leave mid-afternoon, but I'm always first-round fodder anyway.
Maybe with Lou back in a stick car I'll have some company
Hopefully before I get there I can run out the old gas I stupidly dumped in...detonation, stalling, the whole mess.

We had 11 cars show up, and no breakage had all 11 in the 1st rnd. Brian Mimken happily got the bye in the 1st after we all drew numbers out of a hat.

The Drakes notably had THREE cars in attendance - props to them! Tom didn't make it, but Leighton, Judy, and Yankee Bob raced the Simca, blue 62 Valiant, and 65 Valiant.

Can't remember all 1st round pairings, but Rodney, Ron H, Jack Purlear, Brian Mimken, Slant Cecil and myself made it to the 2nd. Rodney ran me down after we both had mediocre lights. Ron and Jack advanced to the 3rd rnd and Ron got the bye.

A classic matchup in the final with a RAZOR close race. Both Ron and Rodney had almost identical lights and Rodney had the line first but broke out by 0.005 with Ron over by 0.002 for the win.

I drove straight from SoCal to be there and arrived at 10AM Sat with enough time to unload my 600 lbs of stuff and run the 64 Dart. What a trip!

Brian actually had a pretty good day, going 2-3 rounds in street, also.
I enjoyed the time trials running with Brian and Cecil because we were all slow 8) . It was nice having someone beside you all the way instead of chasing you down at the end.
Cecil's new 68 is a sweet little ride (except for the skeleton seat in the back  ). It made for an interesting comparison with my car; very different formulas, but very similar performances, separated by a tenth and 1 mph.

I wish the actual race was that interesting for me. I drew Rodney in the first round and lost lane choice to him, further improving my chances for failure.
Or you could think of it this way; it took a champion to beat me!
Not.

Nice to get to know more slanters in person, even though many regulars were missing. Farmington is such a nice facility; hopefully we'll have enough room in the schedule next year so everyone can come.

Next!

I had by far the best weekend ever drag racing!

I made it to the semifinals of two classes!

I somehow managed to draw the bye in the first round, and then got a little lucky in beating Jack in the second round with a MOV of .008! I got Rodney in the semi and redlighted.

I saw some new and old faces at the event, and had a blast!

Now if I could just figure out what the heck I'm doing.......
