Years ago that happened to my duster. The connector from the keyswitch along the steering colmn burnt. Its a cluster of 5 or 6 wires. made a roadside jumper wire and drove home. Just a thought..........

I have a Dart that someone had 'fixed' by hacking up the wiring harness and putting it back together by twisting the wires together and wrapping them in electrical tape. :-O After it would do exactly what you described (dying randomly and not doing anything) and it mysteriously working again after I moved it, I traced out the wiring harness. Found the nastiest, most corroded nest of wires I've ever seen. A few hours of cursing and soldering and it was fixed; haven't had a repeat in about 4 years now.

I'd check the easy things - ignition switch, fusible link. If that doesn't fix it you may have to go hunting.

I hate electrical jobs.Whats the deal on the repair? Take off the steering wheel to remove the switch from the inside? Fusible link? Where is that? I never done an ignition switch repair before. Thanks

If it were your fusible link, pretty much the entire car would be electrically dead. No lights, no radio, no nothin'.

Yes, to replace the ignition switch the steering wheel must come off.
