The side mirror on my Duster can't be adjusted at all from inside the car. The glass will move just a hair as I move the adjuster, but just go right back to where it was. It won't even stay put when I push the mirror into the right position with my hand. I'm pretty tall, so I need the mirror aimed up a bit for me to get any use out of it. After a couple days, it's drooping again and is becoming a major pain to deal with. Any way to R&R these mirrors and their adjusting mechanisms, or should I try to grack down a NOS (or new repro) mirror and adjusting assembly?

if it has the ring that holds the glass, you can remove that and drill the peened rivets out, then replace with small screws... you will see where when you open it up...
Good luck...

These mirrors (and the passenger-side "looks like a remote but it's a manual" items) are being reproduced. Made in Taiwan, but the quality's very acceptable. Price is high, though, couple hundred dollars apiece. Used ones go by on eBay all the time. Usually the symptoms you describe are caused by separation of the adjustor cables from the mirror head itself. The mirror is easy to disassemble once removed (and not hard to remove), so you may want to try removing and disassembling it to see if you can repair it.

That was going to be my next question...what to use?

Also, any tricks to getting the glass off? It looks like the original glass was broken and another piece just glued over the top of it.

The glass can't be gently removed from its holder cup; it's not like some of the manual mirrors that have a tension spring and retainer ring that can be removed. In order to remove the glass from its holder cup, you would need to break it and remove the fragments. There is replacement glass available for proper installation (back into the cup).

Lubing the cables: I'd probably use Tri-Flow spray oil.
