Post subject:  Mix'N'Match

I've got a pair of 8 1/4s , one is out of a Duster, and the other is from a deputized Diplomat.
I was thinking of mix'n'matching the two for application in my Scamp.

The plan is to use the Duster housing, and swap the gi-normous breaks from the Diplomat to it. Also the pinion snubber ('cuz it's a little taller) and potentially the gear set.
The Duster's gears are 3.21
The Diplomats gears are 2.9 (really? there is a second tag that reads 0558)
With an O/D A-833, which would be preferable?

Anybody see any potential problems with this plan? IE - the fact that the rear breaks will be MUCH larger than the front(still drums)?

What you are talking about here is hot rodding....fill yer boots.

Try anything you like but keep the old stuff intact till you know the new stuff works....

With an OD you will want at least a 3.21 or the OD will be relatively useless unless you drive 100 a lot. :shock:
