Post subject: | Putting the bolts in the torque converter? |
I am having trouble putting the bolts into the torque converter. The engine and transmission are bolted together and I need to align the flexplate with the holes on the torque converter. I turn the engine and it turns the torque converter too. Is there an easy way to hold the torque converter in one place and turn the engine? bwhitejr |

Turn the engine until you have one of the ears accessable then turn the converter to align it with the hole and put a bolt in. You should then be able to put the remainder in with no difficulty. just put them in finger tight until you have them all in, so that you can adjust the position slightly if needed. Also, the hole spacing is not even; the converter will only bolt up one way. I hope you marked it while it was out. |

If not he will next time. I know I did. You should be able to use a pry bar through the starter hole to turn the converter without turning the engine. If the converter won't turn free of the engine you have a problem somewhere. |

And this site just saved me time and frusration. Just took the flex plate and new torque convertor and found the correct alignment. Spray painted one "ear" along with the convertor. Thanks people. |

I love it when a plan comes together. |

I am swapping one 1964 904 for another. Do the flexplates only align in one pattern with the torque converter? FSM shows a small hole in the Flexplate that lines up with an arrow on the torque converter No hole in my flexplate...and No Arrow on the Torque Converter Is this one of those just spin it until it lines up or is there some Mopar Method? |

Round and round she goes, where she stops no one knows.... Yep, it's guess and check. Sometimes you won't know you got the wrong way until you already put in 2 or 3 of the bolts. |
