Probably the first thing I want to take care of on Grover is replacing his headliner. It's beyond sagging at this point. In fact, it's torn open above my head and regularly spews his vile brown guts on me. I've found a few interior kits but they all have stuff I don't need too so I don't want to pay extra for all that. I just want the headliner. I also don't know how to replace it. Can I just rip the whole thing out for now?

By the way, if you haven't read my other posts, Grover is a 1964 Dodge Dart. I think he's the 2-door sedan? It's pretty roomy in the back and he's not the GT.

I just installed a headliner in my 60 Valiant that came from(beleive it or not)J.C.Whitney and fit very well considering that they worked off of my measurments.When you order a headliner from J.C.Whitney,they require that you measure your old headliner or whats left of it,width,length,and distance between the metal rods(bows) that attach it to the roof rails.
I installed my headliner myself but if you have never done it before I would suggest a professional installer or at least have someone who has done it before helping.I paid about $130 for mine including shipping and they have a fair collection of colors but not the factory colors but Im sure you can somthing close enough to work with.
BTW,I drive a 63 Dart every day and love it.

If the bows are in place and you can measure them your good to go.

I would leave the old unit in the car until you are ready to replace it.
Buy a box of large safety pins and pin the head liner up until you are ready to do the job, it will look funny but it will keep the padding from falling onto your head.

The reason I say this, it is nice to see how eveything comes apart and then quickly, put it back to gether that way so parts don't get misplaced. Also, the bows holding-up the liner are different lengths and easy to bend.
You need to carefully remove the old head liner, lay it next to the new unit and swap the bows over, one by one so they remain in the correct location.
