The York compressor was still in production, at least just a couple of years ago. A Freightliner rig that hauled some equipment for us had a brand new one bolted to the side of its Cummins, with factory R-134a tags. Darn thing kept the whole cab and sleeper cold at idle, too. So you can *probably* buy a brand new one that has all the same bolt holes and fittings.Is it compatible with R134, if that becomes necessary?

As far as rebuilding the old one, I think it should be no problem for a competent shop. If you were here in Austin, I'd send you to Austin Rebuilders. Seems like every time I'm in there they have several Yorks either waiting for a rebuild or freshly rebuilt. And they do the old GM A6 too, but they just cant find good cores and some key parts for the Chrysler compressors anymore. Price of being out of production since '78
