Guys that have welded up the slots in the distributor...

What method of welding did you use? A guy I talked to about welding it for me said that he would have to weld it up with brass or I would never be able to file it down to get it to the length I wanted.

Anyone have some advice?

I have a brass shapped bar that is the same size as the 9R slot, I just insert it into the slot and use a buddy's flux core mig welder, tack it to fill the slot, then lightly grind it flat, file/die grind to desired length, remeasure with caliper to make sure it's just right (takes about 15 minutes if you're a perfectionist with a 15-17L/R governor...)

I welded with steel. Took some time to file, but not a great amount of time.

Using the formula I found that I need to shorten the slot .100 of an inch. I guess I will have the guy weld it up tomorrow if he has the chance. Thanks for the help guys.
