So every thing but the stroke and rod length is the same right? The bore is the same right?
I found a rebuild kit for cheap and it comes with "the correct rod" and pistons. I think they are .030 over. But I cant remember the rod length #'s for a 198 and if I do get this kit I'll have the rod length double checked.

Ooops all questions are 225 to 198 parts interchangeability.

Yep, the pistons are the same - they only changed the crank and rods (and maybe a couple carb and tuning things). The 198 has 7.005" rods.

You found a 198 rebuild kit that comes with rods, cheap? Or a 225 kit? More info, please.

PAW still lists kits for the 198 but will not sell you any rods, nor will they change their ads.

I called summit racing and they said they had them. Now when I asked about the rods they were lost so they gave me the # to the vender (I think it was federal mogual) and they said they were the correct rods but I'm still iffy hearing storeis from here on that. The price was around 300 to 400 for the kit.

these guys wont sell the rods seperate either kit only.

Sounds like there saying that they are the right ROD Bearings, and not the rods themself. That should be correct.

I know PAW lists the rods as being different, but they are using 225 rods.

slant six dan and I have each called them over a year ago asking the same questions, and they are 225 short (regular) rods in their kits.

it is a bit misleading in the ads, I believe they are suffering from the "everything is interchangeable with mopar" disease.

Maybe the compression height is different?

The only difference between a 198 and a 225 is the crank (3.64" stroke for the 198, 4.125" stroke for the 225) and the connecting rods (7.00" for the 198, 6.69" for the 225).

When you use a 198 rod with a 225 crank you need custom pistons........

I believe people use the 2.2 pistons in this case.
